Q: What types of problems can cosmetic dentistry address? I have always thought I needed braces to fix my teeth. Are there other options?
A: Unfortunately, people are not born with perfect teeth. Often individuals suffer from discoloration, crowded and crooked teeth, gaps in between teeth, missing teeth, or poor bite (called occlusion). These problems can often cause a chain reaction in our mouths that lead to decay, teeth wear, and jaw issues. In fact, jaw issues caused by dental problems can even cause headaches, neck pain, and poor posture. There is good news. Dr. Gary Imm looks at all of these things and creates a solution which addresses them all. At its best, good cosmetic dentistry doesn't only make your teeth look great, but also makes them work great too!
Q: I am interested in improving the look of my smile, but don't want my smile to look artificial. Will my smile look natural?
Every person is unique, and so is every person's smile. Dr. Imm is specially trained to take each person's unique facial structure, age, complexion, gender, eye color and hair color into consideration to create a smile that is a perfect fit for you! Dr. Imm combines the newest technology with an artist's eye to create a smile beautiful enough to be considered a work of art. There is also a level of choice in what type of smile you would like. Dr. Imm and you together create any type of smile you can dream of!
Q: How long does it generally take to accomplish a youthful smile? How soon can I get my new smile?
A: This depends on what procedures you are undergoing. Generally, your new smile can be completed in less than four visits. For example, if you wanted a full makeover of your upper teeth, which would involve crowns and veneers on the upper 8 or 10 teeth, would be three visits total. The first visit would be a consultation to talk to the doctor about what you would like your smile to look like and address any questions or concerns you may have. The second visit the doctor would prep the teeth and place temporary crowns and veneers. This visit takes between 2-4 hours. A month later, Dr. Imm would remove the temporaries and place your permanent crowns and veneers. Also 2-4 hours. From beginning to end the process takes as little as a month and a half.
Q: How long can I expect my investment to last?
A: When a cosmetic dentist truly takes your bite into consideration, your new smile should last for many, many years. It might be surprising to know that modern cosmetic dental materials are actually stronger than your natural teeth. With routine checkups and care (just like your natural teeth) you should expect your smile to look great for a long time. In fact, veneers and crowns are not susceptible to staining like your natural teeth are!
Q: I have never liked going to the dentist. Are there ways to make this process comfortable?
A: A caring cosmetic dentist listens to your concerns before starting treatment and makes sure to address them before starting anything. Dr. Imm has learned techniques to make the procedures quick and surprisingly comfortable. New technologies have allowed recovery times to be minimal. Also, Dr. Imm offers sedation or sleep dentistry so you can sleep through the entire procedure and wake up with your dream smile.
Q: What effect will a new smile have on my life?
A: Patient's often find it hard to control their emotions after seeing their new smile. Tears, hugs, laughter, and bright smiles are not uncommon reactions to patients seeing their new smile for the first time. The best part is that they cannot help but smiling!
This change often affects other aspects of their lives. They have more confidence, a renewed self image, and often even feel younger! For many patients a result of their new confidence is career advancement. Just imagine how a new, youthful smile would make a difference in your life...
Q: Can I expect my insurance to pay for these procedures?
A: Insurance companies are in business to make money and often this does not align with exceptional dentistry. They want to pay for the cheapest fix for problems, not necessarily the best. Insurance companies often limit their coverage to 1,000 to 2,000 annually.
Also, since most cosmetic dentistry is considered an elective treatment, insurance will not cover it. We do everything to get your maximum benefit, but often alternate financial arrangements have to be considered. There are some great financing options available. These options include very competitive interest rates and same as cash features. Of course, checks, credit cards, and cash are accepted as well.
