"People who have had implants done are amazed that it allows them once again to be able to have teeth that are just like the ones they lost!" - Westminster Dentist Dr. Gary Imm
Implant treatment starts with a surgically placed artificial tooth root (small titanium screw) that is capped with a specially designed, natural looking porcelain crown. Talented and expert dentist Dr. Imm is able to complete all phases of implant placement and restoration himself. This allows him to oversee and control the whole process from start to finish, ensuring you a fabulous result!
An implant procedure allows Dr. Imm to replace missing teeth with a very strong, durable foundation and a porcelain crown, tooth restoration that will look and feel like your own natural teeth. Implants are also a good option for missing teeth because they last longer than bridges, don't require altering surrounding teeth, and have a higher success rate that a root canal. An implant keeps you from losing precious bone structure, gives you a healthier bite and prevents surrounding teeth from drifting out of position.
Advances in dental technology have made it possible to "place" a dental implant with greater accuracy, giving more successful results and a more aesthetically pleasing finished product. An ICAT (3D CT scan) allows specially trained dentist Dr. Imm the advantage of being able to "see" what he is doing when placing an implant instead of trying to do it blindly. It allows him to proceed with a more precise and optimum implant placement for a longer lasting result and also to prevent trauma to nerves or sinuses.
It also allows the dentist to see if there is a good foundation of healthy bone or if there is any pathology present, such as an infection, that would compromise the result. It may be necessary to strengthen the area with a graft of healthy bone before proceeding with the placement of the implant.
In some cases, once the implant has been successfully placed it is possible for artistic and precise dentist Dr. Imm to immediately cap it with a beautifully designed replacement tooth. In other cases, there will need to be a period of healing and time for the implant to fuse with the healthy bone before your final, natural looking porcelain crown can be placed.
Dr. Imm has also been very successful using implants to anchor dentures so they don't move or shift position, but will stay in place when eating or talking. Mini implants (tweeners) can be used, and it is possible in only an hour or two to walk out with dentures that fit more securely. Our guests have told us they have experienced a 90% improvement in the functionality and fit of their dentures with this procedure!
The great advantage of this high-tech system to you is a much more comfortable procedure and faster healing time and recovery because of less initial trauma. Even though this procedure is much less traumatic than in the years before such advanced technology was available, your comfort during this procedure is very important to us. We take pain management very seriously. Some of our patients prefer to use the comforting option of sedation dentistry while getting their implant work done.
Is this the solution you've been waiting for? We know you must have questions about these new technologies and procedures and would welcome the opportunity to meet you and discuss with you in person. Please, be our guest!
