Non-invasive technique to reshape your Westminster gums

A new non-invasive technique to reshape your Westminster gums

gingivitis, periodontal disease, gum recession, gum infection, westminster dentsitDo you have sensitive teeth and gums? Have you noticed that your teeth look longer than they did previously? Receding gums are more common than you may think, and gum disease is not the only cause. In fact, studies show that more than half of the adult population over the age of 35 deal with this issue at some point. The good news is that there is a new, minimally invasive way to reverse this problem and reshape your gums. Here are a few facts about this amazing new treatment invented by John Chao, D.D.S.

What is pinhole gum rejuvenation?

Pinhole gum rejuvenation, also known by its patented name as the Pinhole Surgical Technique™, is an incision-free procedure used to restore and reshape receding gums.

  • First, a local anesthetic is used to numb the area that requires treatment
  • Next, your dentist makes a tiny pinhole in that same location
  • A small, specially designed instrument is then inserted into the pinhole-sized opening and used to gently loosen the gum tissue before moving it back to a healthy position
  • Finally, tiny collagen strips are placed in the entry point under the gums to hold them in place long enough for your body to form and replenish the area with its own collagen.

How long does it take to heal?

Because no incisions or stitches are required with this technique, patients can expect a decreased risk of infection and a considerably quicker recovery time. This is an incredible advancement in modern dentistry when compared to the traditional method of cutting and grafting gum tissue, an invasive and painful technique that can take several weeks to a couple of months to fully heal.

Can anyone have this procedure?

Before you can be considered as a candidate for pinhole gum rejuvenation, your gums must first be examined to make sure they are not inflamed or infected and that any signs of gum disease have been properly treated.
